Maudine’s

Located within The Junto in Columbus, Ohio, Maudine’s is an all-day café that seamlessly blends playful irreverence with genuine Ohio hospitality. Inspired by the city’s rich agricultural history and the hotel’s cheeky spirit, the shop is named in honor of Maudine Ormsby, an award-winning Holstein cow famously crowned the Ohio State University Homecoming Queen in 1926. This legendary prank serves as the perfect muse, mirroring the irreverent soul of the original Junto Club and infusing the brand with a sense of friendliness and joyful confidence.

The space is designed to feel like an eccentric neighbor offering a warm cookie or a cup of sugar, balancing bold and soft design elements to create a modern yet warmly familiar atmosphere. The brand captures this whimsical charm through optimistic, handwritten typography and a vibrant color palette paired with historic OSU Homecoming photographs. Much like the tale of its namesake queen, Maudine’s is a spot where history and humor meet, encouraging locals and travelers alike to linger, challenge conventions, and celebrate moments of shared discovery. All hail our Holstein Queen!
